Malaysia is one of the leading business travel destinations in Asia. According to an estimate by Amadeus, spending on business trips in Asia is expected to reach US$900 billion by 2025. Unparalleled public health measures like lockdowns and travel restrictions, labour shortages, rising inflation, increased costs, have significantly affected the industry’s bottom line and growth.

As Malaysia gradually embraces its recovery phase amidst the improved pandemic situation, the business events industry has to pull together to achieve economies of scale. The sense of community and the way we work closely and collaboratively today has become a characteristic of the next normal.

Meeting planners, travel managers, hotels, convention centres, meeting venues, exhibition organisers, professional conference organisers and event companies must collectively address key issues such as new considerations of the ROI on business travel, costs, supply chain, professionalism, talent development and technological transformation.
